William's Cedar started with a simple idea: homeowners, builders, and DIYers shouldn't have to choose between big-box prices and real quality to get good cedar.
We're a family-owned and operated business, founded in 2020 and based in Surrey, BC. From day one we've focused on one thing: the right cedar for your project, with honest guidance and reliable service.
The William's Quality Promise
Inspect your order at pickup. If you don't love a board, hand it back to us right there — no questions asked, no fees. We'd rather you leave a board on the pile than take home one you're not happy with. (Once lumber leaves the yard, a standard restocking fee applies, so we can keep our inventory standards high for the next family.)
Who you're dealing with
William — Operations & Sourcing. With over 20 years in international wood trading, William personally sources and grades our lumber — which is why we can make the Quality Promise in the first place.
Jacky — Marketing & Systems. A UBC Marketing graduate, Jacky runs our online store and systems so ordering is simple and your order is actually ready when you arrive.
When you call, text, or pull into the yard, you're talking to the same small team that helps you figure out what you need, pulls your order, and loads it into your vehicle.
What we stock
Western Red Cedar, Alaskan Yellow Cedar, Japanese Cedar (Sugi), and Hemlock, milled in the dimensions BC projects actually use: fence posts, rails and boards, decking, siding, soffits and fascia, and clear, low-resin profiles for saunas. Every product page tells you what each board is best for, and we're happy to talk through grades — like clear vs. knotty — and what fits your budget.
How ordering works
- Browse online. Sizes, prices, and use cases are on every product page.
- Place your order. Pay online, or reserve with Pay On-Site and pay when you pick up.
- Pickup or delivery. We'll confirm the details and have your order pulled and ready at our Surrey yard, or arrange delivery across BC. If anything needs adjusting — quantities, lengths, alternatives — we'll sort it out with you before you finalize payment.
